16 Apr 2018 by Seacoast Spartans
The Spartans are proud to announce the continued addition of professional staff
members to the organization. In addition to adding a new General Manager of Hockey
Operations (Chris Davidson), the organization has also introduced new coaching assignments for the U14, U16, U18 and U20 teams. “The level of professional expertise we continue to bring to the Spartans organization annually is unparalleled”,
said Travis Bezio, the Spartans co-owner. “They all bring a wealth of knowledge and playing experience to pass on to the players and organization.”
Chris Davidson, who will be taking on the role of General Manager of Hockey Operations, will be responsible for the oversight and management of all Spartans Boys teams (Mites through Juniors) and the Seacoast Performance Academy. Chris spent the last 20 years coaching at the Collegiate and Prep School levels. He was also a four-year letter winner at Saint Michael’s College capturing a National Championship in 1999.
Heading up the U14 team will be Kurt Mallett. Mallett has been with the Seacoast Organization for 15 years and has established himself the premier Skill Development Coach in New England. Mallett was a four-year standout at Salem State College and went on to play 10 years of pro hockey playing in 460 games. Mallett’s leadership skill shined at the professional ranks so much that he was a player and a coach for six of his 10 seasons.
Taking the reigns at the U16 level with will be Nick Therrien. Therrien, a former Spartan in his youth hockey playing days, and his experience with the Spartans helped propel him on to great things at the college level. Therrien played collegiately at Utica College where his career marks were 2.39 goals against average and a 92% save percentage. Following Utica, he dove right into coaching with stops at Plymouth State University and Buffalo State College, both premier college programs.
Coming on board for the first time as a Spartan is Dennis McCauley. McCauley is a Northeastern University graduate and a four-year member of the Huskies Men’s Hockey Program. Following his time at Northeastern he went on to play professionally in the AHL and Europe amassing 318 games. After finishing his playing career he has been a natural fit for coaching. He has an ability to relate to players and motivate them to want to improve their game.
Matt Lavallee will be heading up the U20 team. This will be Lavallee’s first time as a
head coach with the Spartans and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Lavallee is known for his recruiting efforts and putting together a team that competes
hard day in and day out. He is a University of Southern Maine alum who will bring
quality skill development to the program.
Taking on the role of Seacoast Performance Academy Director of Skill Development is
Matt Pinchevsky. Matt has an extensive background in hockey with stops at Shattuck
St. Mary’s, Bridgewater Bandits and Curry College. He was a four-year letter winner at
Curry College. He was also one of the original builders of the Select’s Hockey Academy in Connecticut. Matt has coached and developed some of the top talent in Quebec, Maritimes, and New England which will allow him to give our players the development strategies that they need to improve.
Alex Arthur will be joining the staff in an assistant coach and skill development role. He will assist Coach Therrien and Coach Pinchevsky in their daily routines on and off the ice. Alex is a former college player at Cortland State University in New York. Alex brings a wealth of knowledge to the organization from his involvement with the Greater
New York Stars out of Brooklyn and the Portland Pirates right here on the seacoast.
“We have put together a strong group to help bring our organization to the next level. Our goal is to elevate to a nationally recognized program right here in the Seacoast”, said, Bezio. “We look forward to the continued growth of our community”.
